Site Plans

My own home wouldn't show up from google earth, so i drew the pentagon instead. It was really difficult and it didn't turn out how I hoped so I think i'm going to re-draw it

Contour (sticks and cellphone)

Suzanne asked us to use our cellphone and a twig to draw a set of 16 each.  We first drew large renderings.  This activity was to help us focus on details and would later be used to abstract other drawings.

This is one of the two abstractions I am working on.

We are still working in class on the other drawing, as well as a few more sets which will be posted Wednesday.

Contour (people, layers)

We were asked to draw layers at the beginning of class.  I really enjoyed this assignment because i really had to use my eyes to distinguish different layers.

Drawing-Volchansky

During another drawing class with Nadia, we were asked to draw different light sources from different perspectives using our view finders.  I was not pleased with my original results, so i finally settled on a desk lamp i spotted on someone's table.

This is a continuation of the previous post.

After we drew our hardware, we were asked to pick our favorite and draw a large version of it.  I chose the close view of the wooden banister in the lobby of Gatewood.

We were asked to draw architectural hardware from three different views using our viewfinders.  I enjoyed this activity the most out of all three we did with Nadia.

While with Nadia, we drew architectural hardware around the Studio Arts Center.  We picked three different pieces of hardware and drew them in different styles.

Messes

For homework one night, Suzanne asked us to draw 5 messes.  The first place that came to mind to find a mess was my bedroom.  I decided to draw my desk area, my closet, and my floor. Here are my favorite 3 messes:

Class Assignment- Rain boots

As we all know, it's been very rainy on campus the past few weeks.  And with rain come rain boots!  Stoel and Suzanne had us take our boots off and place them on a table for the class to draw.  Here was my second attempt which was much better than the first.

When I got bored of drawing boots, I drew my feet instead.

Ambidextrous Drawing of Hands

I am naturally left handed.  So, I thought this assignment was going to give me a hard time.  First, I drew my left hand with my right.  It's a bit skinny and odd at the bottom but I think I could redraw it.  

However, my right hand, drawn with my left hand ( the one i always use!) looks much worse.  I feel like i was able to capture a few of the lines in my palm but mostly by accident.  I need to work on my wrist and fingers.

Negative space bike

One day at the beginning of class, we all made our way down to the lobby where a bicycle was placed in front of us.  We were told to draw the negative space.  I was very intimidated by this assignment but we had an hour so I used it to my advantage and took my time.  I also took notes on my drawing so that later I can use it as a reference to help make my drawings better.

Nadia had us draw a cross contour of a chair.  I found this activity to be challenging because I wasn't quite sure exactly how to do a cross contour.

Contour of Desk

To get more practice with contour drawings, Suzanne asked us to draw our desks.

At the time, I liked the drawing but I now realize it could use a little more detail and maybe a different size pen.

Contour of Horizon

Stoel asked us to draw a contour of the horizon looking out the windows of our studio space.  I liked this assignment because it was relaxing but required that I still remained focused.
